Well the winter trout series is getting tight, given that the last day to check in your catch is tomorrow (1/31/07) at midnight. I have been bumped off the board for a couple of weeks and knew i needed a fish - bad! The bad thing is I'm not so good a catching trout, yet! Went out today to give a last ditch effort to get back on the board and viola! Caught at least a dozen in just a couple of hours and all were legal, best thing was they kept getting bigger! Landed one that was just shy of 20" she got me moved up mid way on the board, so now I'm on to round two! All my trout were caught on a pearl/chart devil eye and amber/chart small mullet on 1/8 oz jig heads. I was fishing in deep water under the fresh water that came down this morning. I know she isn't as big as some of those other guys, but I'll catch up I'm learning more and more every outing. Here is a cool pic of a little red, my first one with my Gulf Coast Rod, bigger to come - guaranteed.

Went fishin with a friend lookin for trout. The fog rolled in once we got to where we were going to fish. I was really looking forward to fishing since i just picked up my new rod from Gulf Coast Rods, Diverdolls Chix Stix (its in the picture) The water was clear about two feet deep very nice. I had my new GCR rigged up with the Bismith jig head and a chartreuse small mullet and broke in my new GCR with a descent trout.

Beckie (Mrs.Five-0) and I (Diverdoll) are in an online trout series on Coastal Kayak Angler. I went fishing with my husband (Scubasteve) on Saturday Jan. 6th. We went fishin that morning with Randall (Johnny Quest) and it was a foggy adventure that wasn’t very productive for fish. My husband and I stopped on our way home to try our luck again not wanting to give up and desperately needing trout to get on the board. The clouds and fog were still out and darker clouds were moving in. The air was cold and the wind was picking up. About thirty minutes after we got there my husband landed a trout, he was on the board and I wasn’t. The race was on. About an hour and a half later I end up hooking up. My little guy was just enough (15 ½”) to get me on the board with some time to upgrade. He swallowed a chartreuse mullet brown lure that is fogged up. Stay posted to see how it comes out…
